Financed By PFN, The Film Children Of Devils Ready To Show January 12, 2023
JAKARTA - Indonesian films received a warm welcome from film audiences after the Covid-19 pandemic. The surge in viewers of up to 50 million viewers was recorded until December 2022 as a breath of fresh air for the world of cinema in Indonesia. This figure is predicted to continue to grow and surpass the record audience for Indonesian films in 2019.
Interestingly, this number of viewers was contributed by many horror genre films. According to filmindonesia.or.id, of the 15 films with the highest audience achievement, 9 of them are films with horror genres. This also further confirmed the positioning that in recent years, films with horror genres have received high appreciation from Indonesian film audiences.
One of the State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) engaged in the film sector, PFN (State Film Production Corporation) responded positively to this situation. His role as a financing institution for the advancement of the film ecosystem in Indonesia by collaborating with Production House (PH). One of the films that this year the financing collaboration was carried out by Perum PFN is the Child of the Devils, produced by Jaman Studio.
The collaboration between PFN and Jaman Studio is the starting point in the transition stage of PFN, which used to produce a film and is now a film financing state institution, it is hoped that the film ecosystem in Indonesia can further advance in contributing to the world of entertainment, education, culture and social affairs, especially for the Indonesian people. And realize creative ideas among films," said Dwi Heriyanto B, as the President Director of Perum for State Film Production (PFN).
The film Anak Titipan Setan tells the story of Putri (Gisella Anastasia) who must return to her village from Australia because her family in Meloyo Kidul village, Surakarta is having a big problem. Eyang Susana (Ingrid Widjanarko), the mother of Putri forced Putri to come home with her son, who is believed to be a solution to the problems she faces.
The problem that threatened the whole family's safety began when Eyang Susana took part in the ritual of pesugihan and tied the agreement with the devil Jaran Peneroleh. How Putri reveals the mystery of the family and completes the agreement with Jaran Penofti became the main idea of this film.
Historically, the ritual of pesugihan is something that is commonly practiced by people in Java in the 80s and 90s even today. This ritual of pesugihan is the background for the film Anak Titipan Setan.
According to Erwin Arnada, as the director and producer of the film Anak Titipan Setan, in the film Jaran Penverikan there is a special treatment in building suspense. A artistic approach, both from the set of property films as well as visual effects, is the main construction in building suspense. The audience will feel fear and see the beauty of the visuals we made. Beautifully smooth concept. I do not rely on jumpcare techniques to terrorize the audience. It is clear that filmmakers are producing best-selling films such as Jelungkung (2001) Jelungkung (2022), 30 Days Looking for Love (2004) and School End Notes (2005).
The purpose of PFN and Jaman Studio to take this story to the big screen film is to raise the Indonesian cultural side of urban legend Jaran Penleh as well as educational media to the public that pesugihan is the wrong way to acquire wealth, position, or power instantly.
"Jaman Studio is interested in producing the film Anak Titipan Setan because of the urban horror story that lifts the Jaran Penoreh award which is a different horror and stabbing genre," said Soemijato Muin, Executive Producer of Jaman Studio.
"What's interesting about the film Anak Titipan Setan is the emergence of the first mystical figures depicted in the film," he continued.
The film Anak Titipan Setan stars a number of well-known Indonesian actresses, such as Gisella Anastasia, Ingrid Widjanarko, and Annisa Hertami as well as talented Yogyakarta actors, such as Ibnu Gundul, Soeyik, Nano Asmodono and introduces child player Gabriel Bivolaru.
The film Anak Titipan Setan which underwent 17 days of filming in the city of Yogyakarta became the first horror film produced by Jaman Studio and is the second film he produced after the film Dear Imamku which was released in 2021. The film Anak Titipan Setan will be released in theaters throughout Indonesia starting January 12, 2023.
