The Regent Of Jember Guarantees That Food Stocks Are Safe At Christmas And New Year

JAKARTA - The Regent of Jember, Hendy Siswanto, guarantees that food stocks in Jember Regency, East Java, are safe from Christmas to New Year 2023.

"We have carried out a surprise inspection with regional leadership communication forums in traditional markets and the result is that all basic commodities are safe enough to meet the needs of the community during the Christmas and New Year's momentum," he said, in Jember, East Java, quoted from Antara, Sunday, December 11.

According to him, the prices of basic commodities usually increase ahead of the Christmas and New Year celebrations, so the regional leadership communication forums go down to conduct sudden inspections in order to monitor the availability and prices of basic commodities in traditional markets.

"Indeed, there are several basic commodities that have increased, but the increase is relatively reasonable. We are also holding market operations so that prices for a number of basic necessities are relatively stable," he said.

He said the inspections carried out to monitor prices and the availability of several basic needs in traditional markets were also to control the inflation rate in Jember Regency.

"We also want to make sure that people can easily get basic needs in traditional markets because the availability of a number of foodstuffs is quite safe," he said.

In the context of controlling inflation, he continued, his party together with Forkopimda monitored the selling price of basic necessities, the availability of basic necessities and the smooth supply of basic necessities, so that people did not have trouble when they needed them.

"The Jember Regency Government will also hold a meeting with the Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) to reduce the rate of inflation in the regions," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Jember Police, AKBP Hery Purnomo, said that some food commodities in traditional markets are still quite stable, such as rice, oil, chicken, eggs, shallots and garlic.

"Our results are in a dialogue with traders and the public who are shopping in the market, prices and supplies of food staples are still relatively stable," he said.

He said the Jember Police had participated in monitoring the distribution of the distribution of nine basic needs and asked the public not to hesitate to report, if they knew of any individuals hoarding groceries ahead of Christmas and New Year.
