Bung Karno Was A Political Prisoner When Becoming A Simple Guardian Of His Marriage, Rachmawati And Tommy Marzuki

JAKARTA - The September 30th Movement (G30S) was the culprit behind Soekarno's fall. He is considered to often defend the interests of the Indonesian Communist Party (PKI). Moreover, the PKI was accused of being the main mastermind of the G30S. Bung Karno's lack of firmness was used by Suharto. Supersemar became his test.

Bung Karno was immediately removed slowly, even becoming a political prisoner. Big Brother's space is limited. Even if he left, Bung Karno's only chance was to visit the wedding of his third child, Rachmawati Soekarnoputri.

The G30S movement is a tragedy that is hard to forget in the memory of the Indonesian nation. Imaging in the form of kidnapping and murder of a series of Indonesian Army (AD) generals is considered heinous. People also speculate that the PKI is behind it.

The people also asked Sang Fajar's son to take firm action regarding the PKI. They asked the PKI to be immediately disbanded and his officials immediately resigned from government positions. Fired away from the fire. That wish never materialized. Soekarno often promised, but no action was taken.

The people's resistance to demonstrations stirred up. The demonstration took place injids. People's trust in Soekarno and the Old Order fell to their lowest level. Bung Karno was appointed by Bung Karno to secure the situation with the March Eleven Order (Supersemar) on March 11, 1966.

The letter contained a mandate to Lieutenant General Suharto, as Commander of the Security and Order Operations Command (Kopkamtib), to take all measures that brought order back. In fact, Suharto made Supersemar an invitation to repulse all Bung Karno loyalists. After that, Suharto was appointed as a presidential official and Bung Karno was placed under house arrest at Wisma Yasoo.

The day after receiving Supersemar, he Suharto-- dissolved the PKI and all communist mass organizations its supporters. A week later, when Soekarno was trying to defend a number of his ministers who Suharto accused G30S dark supporters, Suharto immediately picked them up. By giving Supersemar Soekarno was not aware that he had left the same fate as his future to Suharto.

"Indeed, there was never a signal that he voluntarily wanted to hand over power and his political future to Suharto. Unfortunately, the current has reversed. With Soekarno's political power increasingly leaking, he is like the sun is sinking. It can be ascertained, and just waiting for his final moments," said Julius Pour in the book Gerakan 30 September: Perpetrator, Hero & Petualang (2010).

Bung Karno's condition as a house prisoner at Wisma Yaso is not fine. He was completely banned by Suharto from dealing with the outside world. He is closely guarded. Those who are family and relatives find it difficult to meet him. Especially other people.

This condition dragged on. Soekarno's only entertainment is talking only to his aide. He could not help but feel sad about having to live in the midst of loneliness. However, shortly after his third child, Rachmawati Soekarnoputri, asked for his blessing to marry Martomo Priatman Marzuki (Tommy) in 1969.

Bung Karno allowed it and immediately happiness began to decorate the face of the proclaimer. The marriage was celebrated simply. After all, the location of the wedding was only at the residence of his mother, Fatmawati. Bung Karno was eager to attend. However, what power, he is currently a political prisoner.

Rachmawati did not run out of sense. He repeatedly wrote to Suharto so that his father could come and become the guardian of his son's marriage. The effort paid off. Bung Karno was allowed to come in conditions of kidney disease.

Soekarno's presence with a tight guard was greeted with emotion. His wife, Fatmawati and all of her children were finally able to gather together. Bung Karno also met Bung Hatta. The two of them were also emotional.

After the event, Soekarno was brought back to Wisma Yaso. He was happy not to play, even though he had to return to greet alone as a political prisoner of the New Order.

With the strict permit and control of Suharto's troops, Bung Karno was allowed to attend Rachmawati's wedding reception. Because of the kidneys and several other complications of the disease, Soekarno also appeared with a swollen face. Not only that, his body also looks fragile and weak, so it must be tasted. The scene at that time really made the audience shed tears.

A sight far from Bung Karno's arrogant profile, which is furious when he talks, which is parlente if he is dressed. Between hurt and longing, between anger and love, Fatmawati also met Bung Karno. Fatmawati immediately hugged Bung Karno. His tears overflowed like an ocean. After wiping his tears, Fatmawati immediately hugged, kissed, and hit him. For that, he had to break through a super tight escort," said Adimitra Nursalim in The Remarkable Story of Soekarno (2020).
