In The Aftermath Of The Jersey Incident In The Change Room, There Is Pressure To Forbid Messi From Entering Mexico
JAKARTA - Argentine striker Lionel Messi has come under fire from Mexico following a jersey incident in the dressing room.
La Pulga is considered to be harassing the Mexican state for shifting the Mexican national team jersey with its feet. The incident took place in Argentina's dressing room after the match against Mexico in the 2022 World Cup group phase.
Reporting from the Mirror, Thursday, this incident made Mexican politician Maria Clemente submit a request to the government to embed a Non-Grata Persona status for Messi. This status is a ban on stepping in Mexico.
Clemente claims he has also filed a motion demanding that the Mexican government formalize 'its anger'.
"Ordered the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to issue a declaration to declare non-graft persona within the Mexican region to Argentine citizen Lionel Andres Messi Cuccitini, because of his apparent insults and lack of respect for Mexico during the World Cup of the International Football Federation (FIFA)," the pressure read. quoted from the Mirror on Thursday, December 8.
Previously, a harsh condemnation was also carried out by boxing champion Canelo Alvarez. He accused the Ballon d'Or subscription of using a Mexican jersey to clean the floor of the dressing room.
Messi responded calmly to the criticism. The Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) player has even clarified by stating that he does not need to apologize.
"Anyone who knows me knows that I have never disrespected anyone. I don't need to apologize because I don't respect the Mexican jersey or anyone else," Messi said earlier.
