Cases Of Kabareskrim And Ismail Bolong, Observers Wait For Jokowi's Development Overcoming The Mining Mafia In Indonesia

Energy Economy Observer from Gadjah Mada University, Fahmy Miki, said the key to eradicating the mining mafia in Indonesia depends on President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi) commitment.

He said the Ismail Bolong case about illegal coal mines that were allegedly arrested by Kabareskrim Agus Andrianto was an entry point to further investigate who the elites were playing.

"Ismail Bolong's case may be an entry point for the KPK to investigate it. However, I don't think this will work, whether it's the KPK, whether Mahfud MD will continue, without any endorsement from the president," Fahmy said when contacted by reporters, quoted Thursday, December 8.

Fahmy tweeted the statement by the Mayor of Solo as well as Jokowi's eldest son, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who admitted that he was horrified to know the parties behind the illegal mining actors. He considered that Gibran's concern was very reasonable because in reality there were strong parties who protected and enjoyed the results of this fraudulent practice.

Fahmy said the party protecting illegal mining activities in Indonesia was called the'seventh exorbitant'.

"Gibran said he was horrified to see the mining back in Indonesia. So I linked it, that was the power of the seventh sky to back up. So who are they? Who enjoyed the flow of funds earlier? It is the KPK's job to investigate thoroughly. Who's wrong with having to be prosecuted according to the law," said the former member of the Migas Anti-Mafia Team.

According to Fahmy, as long as he has experience as an Anti-Mafia Migas team chaired by Faisal Bari, the big people who rank this illegal mine come from the elite parties to the elite community organizations (Ormas).

He even mentioned that illegal mining bekings contained unscrupulous members of the government, namely the DPR and DPRD.

"From the results of our study in the Anti-Mafia Migas Team, I think the pattern is the same. So the ring one includes, for example, party elites, elite mass organizations. Then also members of the DPR or DPRD who make laws that may be illegal mining is difficult to take action against," said Fahmy.

It's like the Ferdy Sambo case which has repeatedly revealed who the parties are involved in, said Fahmy, the Ismail Bolong case must also be a momentum to reveal who the elite is involved in. He hopes that the alleged involvement of the elite does not stop with the figure of Agus Andrianto.

"This requires a strong commitment from Jokowi to overcome illegal mining problems because the state's losses are enormous. It should be for the prosperity of the people but only enjoyed by a handful of people, including some of the elements mentioned by Ismail Bolong," he said.

Fahmy also said that illegal mining areas were scattered throughout Indonesia. According to him, the number is very large but not touched by the law.

Data from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) records that there are more than 2,700 mining locations without permits (Peti) or illegal mines spread throughout Indonesia. Of these, the location of the coal Peti is around 96 locations, and the mineral petition is around 2,645 locations, based on data from the third quarter of 2021.

"Even a Ganjar, presidential and presidential child candidates are horrified by the backing. This means that this is real too, right?," said Fahmy.
