2022 World Cup: Ronaldo Becomes Reserve, Portugal Gilas Switzerland 6-1
JAKARTA - Portugal continued their journey in the World Cup with the last 16 malakoni against Switzerland on Wednesday morning WIB at the Lusail Stadium. Selecao successfully beat Nati 6-1 and challenged Morocco in the quarter-finals.
Playing without Cristiano Ronaldo who was kept on the bench for technical reasons, Portugal started the match with Goncalo Ramos' attack. Unfortunately, receiving a pass from veteran Pepe defender, Ramos' efforts are still trapped offside.
In the 16th minute, Ramos opened the scoring for Selecao after receiving Joao Felix's pass. His left foot from the left side of the penalty box successfully penetrated the Swiss goal net, Yann Sommer.

29 minutes, Xherdan Shaqiri tried to reply. However, his shot from outside the penalty box was still off the mark.
Portugal actually added the advantage through Pepe three minutes later. The former Real Madrid defender successfully headed the ball from Bruno Fernandes' corner. Fernando Santos' son led two balls until halftime.

Five minutes into the second half, Ramos took Portugal away. Receiving a pull pass from Diogo Dalot from the right, the Benfica striker stabbed the ball into Sommer's goal without mercy. Portugal is 3-0 away.
Five minutes later, Raphael Guerreiro joined Portugal's big party. His left foot kick from the right side of the Swiss defense after receiving Ramos' pass added to Selecao's 4-0 win.
Manuel Akanji narrowed Switzerland's defeat in the 58th minute after receiving a corner kick. His right foot kick managed to penetrate the goal of Diogo Costa. Portugal 4, Switzerland 1.
Without Ronaldo it really doesn't matter for Selecao. Ramos scored a hat-trick in the 66th minute after receiving Joao Felix's delicious pass. His punctuation shot managed to outwit Sommer.
Ronaldo only entered in the 72nd minute to replace the hero that night, Ramos. However, the presence of the former Manchester United player did not have much effect on Portugal's victory. It was AC Milan striker Rafael Leao who increased Portugal's struggle to 6-1 in injury time.
The 6-1 score lasted until Mexican referee Cesar Ramos blew the long whistle. Portugal has been waiting for Morocco in the quarter-finals which surprisingly silenced Spain on penalties.
A perfect night for Portugal! The Round of 16 comes to a close. It's time for the Quarter-Finals 👀 #FIFAWorldCup | @adidasfootball
