The RKUHP Was Officially Ratified To Be A Law, Had Been Colored With A Hot PKS Debate With The Deputy Speaker Of The DPR

JAKARTA - The DPR ratified the Draft Criminal Code (RKUHP) into Law (UU). The ratification was carried out in the 11th plenary session of the second trial of the 2022-2023 trial year at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, December 6. This ratification was marked by a heated debate between Deputy Speaker of the DPR Sufmi Dasco Ahmad as the chairman of the session with a member of the PKS DPR faction, Iskan Qolba Lubis. Iskan had given an interruption to convey two notes against the RKUHP regarding the article on insults to the president and institutions to be removed. He even threatened to challenge the articles that were disputed by his faction to the Constitutional Court. "PKS still has 2 notes, first, insulting the government to be punished by 3 years this article is rubber article, I ask that this article be revoked. The student is also a demo student, this is a setback from the ideals of reformation, this article will take the rights of the people to express their opinions. Throughout the world the people must criticize their government, the president must also be criticized. I will submit to the Constitutional Court this article," said Iskan in a plenary meeting.

Dasco then cut Iskan's statement because he felt that the PKS faction had denied the agreement. All DPR factions including PKS had previously agreed and signed the RKUHP session to be brought to the plenary session to be ratified into law. "The PKS faction has agreed with the records. We have received the notes, it has been agreed by PKS," said Dasco, cutting Iskan's interruption. "I'm talking, don't be a dictator here, I'll submit it to the Constitutional Court," continued Iskan. "You asked to withdraw those that have been approved by the faction. Therefore, you have given a note," said Dasco again. "If I'm not given time, I'll get out of here," Iskan threatened. "Please" said Dasco.

Dasco then asked all factions present at the plenary meeting whether he agreed that the RKUHP would be ratified into law products. "Furthermore, I ask each representative of the people whether the draft law on the Criminal Code can be approved to be ratified into law?" asked Dasco while tapping the hammer of approval after hearing some members say the word agreement. "All of you have agreed and the PKS faction has agreed with the record. I have given the PKS opportunity but PKS denies what has been agreed upon," added Dasco.

In addition to the agenda of level II talks or decision-making of the RKUHP, the DPR plenary session also scheduled decision-making on the Bill on Ratification of Agreements between the Government of the Republic of Indonesia and the Government of the Republic of Singapore on Defense Cooperation.

The next agenda is decision making on the Bill on Ratification of Approval between the Government of the Republic of Indonesia and the Government of the Republic of Fiji on Defense Cooperation.
