In Front Of The DPR, Erick Thohir Said That Garuda Indonesia's Debt Fell By Almost 50 Percent

JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir revealed that the debt of PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk has shrunk by 50 percent.

This achievement cannot be separated from the success of the company's debt restructuring.

"The highest appreciation for Commission VI when encouraging Garuda's restructuring. If we look at Garuda's own updating, of course, the debt has decreased significantly by almost 50 percent," he said in a meeting with Commission VI, Monday, December 5.

As is known, the Debt Payment Obligation Suspension Management Team (PKPU) determined Garuda's debt of IDR 142 trillion. Consisting of the lessor Fixed Receivable List (DPT), DPT preferential and non-lessor DPT.

Erick said Garuda Indonesia was also able to make improvements in terms of equity.

Where, said Erick, Garuda Indonesia's equity is currently minus 1.5 percent.

"We can see that equity was minus 53 now minus 1.5. So it has decreased far from debt holders and others," he said.

To restore Garuda Indonesia's performance, the government has also provided State Equity Participation (PMN) for the 2022 Fiscal Year amounting to IDR 7.5 trillion.

The PMN report is marked by the issuance of Government Regulation (PP) Number 43 of 2022.

The regulation contains the addition of State Capital Participation into State Company Share Capital (Persero) PT Garuda Indonesia Aviation Company.

This regulation was issued by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on November 30, 2022.

Erick hopes that the provision of PMN to Garuda Indonesia can be used as capital to increase the fleet.

The company itself targets the number of aircraft to reach 120 units.

"Alhamdulillah, the performance has improved, PMN is carried out so that next year the number of aircraft will increase. So that it can balance what is called serving rather than the needs of the community as a whole," he said.
