Kemenkominfo Calls 25 Cities And Regencies Of Audah Migration To Digital TV Broadcast
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Information (Kemenkominfo) announced that as many as 25 cities and regencies have officially migrated analog TV broadcasts to digital TV or Analog Switch Off (ASO) on December 3, 2022.
The 25 cities and regencies came from four broadcast service areas, namely Riau Islands-1, West Java-1, Central Java-1, and DI Yogyakarta.
"Reports from TV, KPID organizers, the Monitoring Center and the digital TV community said that TV-TV had stopped broadcasting analogs and moved to broadcasts to digital TV at 24.00 last night," said the Director of Broadcasting at the Ministry of Communication and Communications, Geryantika Kurnia, quoted from ANTARA, Saturday, December 3.
The 25 cities and regencies that have officially broadcast digital TV entirely are from the broadcast area of the Riau Islands -1, namely Bintan Regency, Karimun Regency, Batam City, and Tanjung Pinang City.
Then there is the broadcast area of West Java-1 consisting of Bandung Regency, West Bandung Regency, Bandung City, and Cimahi City.
Meanwhile, the broadcast area of Central Java-1 consists of Boyolali Regency, Sragen Regency, Grobogan Regency, Kudus Regency, Demak Regency, Semarang Regency, Salatiga City and Semarang City.
As well as the DI Yogyakarta area that includes Kulon Progo Regency, Bantul Regency, Gunungkidul Regency, Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta City, Klaten Regency, Sukoharjo Regency, Karanganyar Regency, and Surakarta City.
"The Ministry of Communication and Informatics has again appealed to people who use analog television every day to be able to prepare television sets at home to capture digital broadcasts," said Gery.
For people whose TVs cannot receive digital TV broadcasts, they can add broadcast converter devices in the form of Set-Top-Box (STB).
The device enables TV to capture digital TV broadcasts from signals received by UHF antennas which were also previously used for analog TV broadcasts.
STB purchases can be made either online on the country's e-commerce platform or directly in electronic stores.
For the purchase of the STB, Gery suggested that people could buy products that had obtained certification from the Ministry of Communication and Information in order to get the best guarantee and quality.
The addition of ASO locations in other broadcast areas cannot be separated from the implementation of ASO in the Jabodetabek area.
In the Nielsen Audience Measurement report, it was recorded that since ASO was carried out on November 2, 2022, the level of digital television broadcasts in Jabodetabek has gradually recovered to 70 percent.
ASO in Jabodetabek also has a significant impact on people's interest in other big cities to switch to digital broadcasting with an average increase of 42-59 percent in the last three weeks.
The hope is that ASO in Indonesia can be achieved more quickly nationally by increasing the number of regions that have completely switched to digital TV broadcasts.
