The Shape Of The Foot Movement When Swimming The Mandatory Leading Style

YOGYAKARTA - The back style, or creeping backward, uses alternating and opposite arms movements. When one arm draws water from the top of the head to the hip, the other arm recovers above the water from the hip to the top of the head and vice versa. So what is the shape of the foot movement when doing backstroke swimming?

Foot does aarty kick, similar to the one used in front freestyle.

The back style, as the name suggests, is the only of the four competitive swimming styles performed on the back.

In terms of speed slower than the front creep and butterfly style but faster than the chest.

Backstroke kicks are back and forth movements, up and down continuously to help balance arm movements. Your foot kick balances the pull of your arm and together both help maintain a horizontal and flat body position.

The amount of thrust generated from the kick will depend on the size of the leg, the mobility of the ankle, and the strength of the legs. Although the boost from the kick of the feet is not a priority as the arms generate most of the boost to the backstroke.

5 Top Tips for Better Feeting Techniques

During certain foot exercises, the legs kick in the vertical plane up and down. However, the movement of the arms causes the body to roll over causing the legs to kick partially to the side, partly vertically and partly to the other side.

General error in kick and kick style

The most common error in the foot kick in the back blow is closely related to the position of the body, when the swimmer lets his feet sink deep below the surface of the water. The fingers of the feet should only break the surface of the water and the legs kick from the hips with a slightly bending knee.

An easy exercise to help maintain the foot kick technique at the correct level in the water is to hold buoys or boards of kicks in the chest and take a foot kick.

The camp will provide support so that the swimmer can focus on kicking up the surface of the water while maintaining a flat head and flat hips. Only then will the foot kick become the most efficient.

This same exercise will help overcome other common errors, namely kicking off the knee. Overlying knee will not only consume energy but will also cause the legs to slowly sink.

Doing a backstroke kick while holding a buoy will help focus the swimmer's attention on kicks from the hips and not from the knees.
