His Goals Continue To Be Claimed By Cristiano Ronaldo, Reactions Relax Bruno Fernandes: Nonependent Who Makes, The Important Resolution
JAKARTA - Bruno Fernandes reacted about his goal in the Portugal versus Uruguay match which was claimed to belong to Cristiano Ronaldo. The 28-year-old player is relaxed and has no problem with it.
Portugal won 2-0 in the meeting on the third matchday of Group H, Tuesday 29 November WIB. Fernandes scored the two goals in the second half.
However, there was a bit of a polemic regarding the first goal that occurred in the 54th minute. The goal was claimed by FIFA to belong to Ronaldo because the superstar was seen headed the ball before entering the Uruguay goal.
However, after careful attention, there was no contact between Ronaldo and the ball that Bruno Fernandes released from the right side of the Uruguay defense. This made Ronaldo fail to score his second goal at this World Cup.
Regarding this polemic, Bruno did not want to bother. The Manchester United player assessed that Portugal's success in qualifying for the round of 16 was far more important.
"I don't think it's really a problem for anyone to score in this phase," Fernandes was quoted as saying by Livescore on Tuesday, November 29. "My feeling at that time was Cristiano touching the ball. I sent him a pass."
"However, the important thing now is that we qualify for the next round after an important win against a strong opponent."
This victory over Uruguay made Portugal collect six points and become the leader of Group H. This result ensured that Fernando Santos' team qualified for the knockout phase following in the footsteps of France and Brazil.
Portugal still has an agenda to play South Korea as the last match in the group phase. Bruno Fernandes assessed that this match would be fierce. Moreover, Korea needs victory in order to maintain hope of qualifying for the round of 16.
However, the 28-year-old still targets victory to wipe out the group stage.
"We still have one game ahead. We have to show our best performance because we want to win all the games," said Bruno Fernandes.
