Today, There Have Been 15 Earthquakes In Cianjur

JAKARTA - The Earthquake Early Warning Coordinator of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Sigit said as many as 285 aftershocks had occurred in Cianjur Regency, West Java until Sunday since the main earthquake on November 21, 2022. "For now, from the cumulative mainshocks or aftershocks or aftershocks, 285 events have now been recorded but statistically 34 percent were recorded on the first day so indeed the first day contributed quite large while now it has decreased," said Sigit in a virtual press conference, Sunday, November 27. From BMKG observations, from 00.00 WIB to 16.00 WIB on Sunday, 15 aftershocks have been recorded with two earthquakes being felt. Until now, the trend of seismicity has decreased. He said that BMKG is currently still making measurements at damage locations to be able to assess its correlation with the impact of damage caused by the earthquake received in the region. Meanwhile, regarding the weather, for the next three days in the afternoon before evening, Cianjur Regency still has the potential to experience rain with light to moderate intensity.

Previously, an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 on Monday, November 21, at 13.21 WIB occurred about 10 km southwest of Cianjur Regency, West Java. The epicenter of the earthquake was on land at a depth of 10 km at coordinates 6.84 South Latitude and 107.05 East Longitude. The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) recorded 321 people died until the seventh day or Sunday, November 27, since the earthquake hit Cianjur Regency, West Java on November 21.

Meanwhile, 11 people were declared missing, and 108 people were seriously injured and are still being treated in all hospitals both in Cianjur Regency and have been referred to other hospitals. A total of 325 evacuation points spread throughout Cianjur Regency, with details of 183 evacuation points with the strength of evacuation above 25 people, and 142 independent evacuation points with strengths below 25 people. Currently, the number of refugees is recorded as many as 73,874 people, covering 33,713 men and 40,161 women including 92 people with disabilities, 1,207 pregnant women, and 4,240 elderly. For the time being, a total of 62,628 houses damaged by the earthquake, covering 27,434 houses severely damaged, 13,070 houses moderately damaged, 22,124 houses lightly damaged.
