The Prosperity Of Indonesian Democracy Was Tested During The 2024 General Election
JAKARTA - Professor of Social and Political Affairs at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (Fisip) Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) Dr. H. Budi Suryadi said the maturity of Indonesian democracy was tested during the 2024 General Election.
"The upcoming election will be a great leap for this nation in democracy, but in fact we are being tested in this moment," he said in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, quoted from Antara, Saturday, November 26.
According to Prof. Budi, the large Indonesian elections followed by hundreds of millions of voters were not only measured by the success of the implementation, but also the quality of the process and the results.
Reflecting on the experience of the 2019 Election, Budi hopes that all people can be at the forefront of helping this nation prevent rifts due to differences in political choices.
It is hoped that efforts to prevent national divisions triggered by identity polarization can be massive.
Then he was also reminded that the difference in choice was only limited to the polling stations (TPS), the rest were united again in harmony and supported any elected leader including the people's representatives in the legislature.
"We hope that the community will get older, all of them can welcome the election cheerfully because this democratic party should be celebrated as a joint victory to create the wheels of government in the future," explained the Dean of Fisip ULM.
As is known, the 2024 Simultaneous Elections will begin with the Presidential and Vice Presidential Elections (Pilpres) on February 14, 2024, simultaneously with the Legislative Election (Pileg) to elect members of the DPR RI, members of the provincial DPRD, members of the district/city DPRD, and members of the DPD RI.
Then on November 27, 2022, a regional election was held to elect governors, regents, and mayors.
