Support Energy Resilience, Pertamina Continues To Run Massive And Aggressive Exploration
JAKARTA - PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) as Pertamina's Upstream Subholding is committed to giving its best contribution to achieving the country's energy security. In carrying out operations spread across Indonesia and abroad, Pertamina's Upstream Subholding continues to carry out massive and aggressive exploration through the search for potential new resources to maintain the sustainability of upstream oil and gas activities.
Muharram Jaya Panguriseng, Director of PHE Exploration explained that massive and aggressive exploration has recorded the best achievements.
"Until now, Pertamina's Upstream Subholding has completed exploration drilling of 15 wells and is currently in the process of drilling 5 wells. This massive and aggressive exploration well drilling activity has also provided results in the form of significant resource findings," explained Muharram, in a written statement, Tuesday, November 22.
These results are in the form of findings of 2C oil and gas resources, including through Manpatu-1X wells in Mahakam Kalimantan, East Gelam-1 River in Jambi, Wilela-001 on Onshore South Sumatra, Bajakah-001 on Onshore West Java, R-2 in North Sumatra Offshore Block (NSO), Rotan-1X River in Jambi, Markisa-001 in Papua, GQX-1 on Offshore North Java Island, Kolibri-001 onshore East Java and most recently on the S-2 well in North Sumatra Offshore (NSO) Block.
Meanwhile, exploration drilling is currently underway, including Kenanga-001, NSO S-2, Helios D-1, Kembo-001 and FB3N. The findings of the resources that have been validated to date are 283 mmboe or 127.5 percent of the 222 mmboe target in 2022.
Pertamina's Upstream Subholding implemented several technological innovations in carrying out explorations, including Broadband Marine 2D seismic Acquisition which has better resolution and quality, Full Tensor Gravity Gradiometry (FTG) which also has a higher gravitation data resolution to allow for more detailed subsurface imaging compared to conventional gravity data.
"In addition, Pertamina's Upstream Subholding has also completed the Vibroseis Survey which has the latest technology for evaluating better sub-vulcanic targets through wireless receivers," Muharram explained.
To date, Pertamina's Upstream Subholding has carried out a 2D seismic survey along 1173 km and a 269 km2 3D seismic survey. There are three main strategies implemented by Upstream Subholding, namely optimizing existing WK asset management, new venture strategy, and partnership strategy.
"Pertamina continues to explore all existing oil and gas resource potentials. By carrying out exploration activities, it is hoped that it can provide added value for the fulfillment of production targets that will maintain the sustainability of energy supply security for Indonesia," said Muharram.
Pertamina's Upstream Subholding is committed to supporting roadmaps to Net Zero Emission by 2060 through various operational activities that have been carried out.
PHE has also been registered with the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) as a participant/member since June 2022. PHE is committed to Ten Universal Principles or Ten Principles of UNGC in its strategy and operations, as part of the application of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) aspects. PHE will continue to develop operational management at home and abroad professionally to realize the achievement of becoming an environmentally friendly, socially responsible, and good governance world-class oil and gas company.
