Fighting Floods, Illegal Buildings And Street Vendors At The Krukut River Bantaran Ordered By Satpol PP

JAKARTA - Karet Tengsin Village, Central Jakarta in an effort to overcome flooding held control of illegal buildings to street vendors (PKL) on Jalan Karet Pasar Baru Barat V, banks of Krukut River, Tanah Abang District.

"This control is carried out because the location is a leading area and focuses on flood control," said Head of Karet Tengsin Village Hari Ananda in Jakarta, Friday, November 11.

Hari Ananda also said that one point the location of the flagship area was in RT 12 RW 04.

"For flood control, we need to do several things, including PKL arrangement, sheet pile construction, followed by the construction of floodgates, as well as reforestation around the location," he said.

In this case, Hari Ananda revealed that this control was carried out in accordance with the direction of the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta, namely, prioritizing the interests of the wider community.

"We carry out in accordance with the direction of the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono to prioritize the interests of the wider community," he said.

Control is carried out so that people can sell according to the places provided to make them look neater and more organized.

"We control the illegal buildings and illegal street vendors on the edge of the Krukut River, as many as seven illegal buildings are here. As for our street vendors, we have relocated to Pisang Market, Palmerah. Hopefully this is really well accommodated," he added.

Hari said that after being brought under control by the Water Resources Sub-dept. and related parties, a sheet pile and park would be built.

"We have a target of three-thirds of the month of regional planning, the first three months we focus on this first, maybe then there will be more locations that we will arrange," he said.

Hari Ananda hopes that the community can protect the environment in order to reduce the impact of the overflowing inundation from the Krukut River.
