Resulting In 480 Bottles Per Month, Miras Oplosan Producers In Banyuasin Were Threatened With Sanctions Of IDR 2 Billion

The Directorate of Criminal Investigation of the South Sumatra Police (Sumsel) Kombes Pol Barly Ramadhany emphasized that producers of adulterated liquor or alcohol in Banyuasin Regency are threatened with a maximum fine of IDR 2 billion.

Barly said the maximum penalty threat is as regulated in Article 62 in conjunction with Article 8 Letter F and E of Law (UU) Number 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection.

Then, he said again, Article 106 in conjunction with Article 24 paragraph (1) of Law Number 7 of 2014 concerning the Implementation of Risk-Based Business Licensing, which investigators imposed on the suspect named Sulianto (37).

"Meanwhile, the threat of imprisonment is regulated in this article, which is for five years," he said, confirmed in Palembang, South Sumatra, quoted from Antara, Friday, November 11.

According to him, the threat of punishment was given to the suspect in accordance with the results of the investigation and supported by the adequacy of evidence.

Evidence in this case, including one unit of Toyota Kijang LGX BG-1521-LO car, one bottle cap pres equipment, one boxedmond tank with a capacity of 250 liters, 55 70 percent alcoholic jerry cans, dyes, 200 empty bottles along with hundreds of fake drink stickers, and 3,312 bottles of mixed liquor ready for distribution.

"The evidence was obtained stored at the suspect's house, Jalan Tanjung Api-Api, Talang Kelapa, Banyuasin Regency, which began when the suspect was caught red-handed distributing liquor at Tanjung Raja Market, Ogan Ilir, Thursday, November 27," he said.

According to Barly, the suspect admitted that he had carried out the forbidden act for the last eight months or around March 2022 independently, by studying video recordings on social media.

From his expertise, the suspect was able to produce more than 480 bottles of adulterated liquor per month which were then sold to the districts of Banyuasin, Ogan Ilir, Muara Enim, Musi Banyuasin, and Pagaralam.

"The suspect was able to reap a total profit of Rp. 300 million from the sale of each drink he made himself, with a mixture of alcohol and textile dyes that were not suitable for consumption with an estimated dose alone," he said.

Barly ensured that currently the suspect had been detained in the South Sumatra Police Headquarters detention cell to undergo further investigation, before the case file was transferred to the prosecutor's office.
