World ESG Rating II, Observer: Pertamina Sejajar With Global Company
Trisakti University (Usakti) public policy observer Trubus Rahadiansyah appreciates Pertamina's success in achieving the number two position in implementing Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) worldwide in all business lines. This predicate was achieved globally in the Oil and Gas category.
"This award proves Pertamina can be aligned with international oil and gas companies. Of course this will have a positive impact on corporate development. Pertamina proves that it is very competitive at the global level," Trubus said, in his statement, Wednesday, November 9.
Trubus also agrees that this success is also proof that the BUMN energy is indeed concerned about running all business lines oriented towards a clean environment, green economy, and a sustainable economy. In fact, this success also proves Pertamina's commitment to running the Net Zero Emission (NZE) roadmap to achieve the zero emission target by 2060.
So at the level of action, Pertamina also places a position as a company capable of responding to changes. Including current changes related to the environment and clean energy, efforts to achieve the NZE target. So, the quality standard is already running," continued Trubus.
For this reason, Trubus said that Pertamina's success should be an example for other companies. Not only from an environmental perspective, but also social and governance.
In this case, Pertamina has become a role model, because in terms of accountability, good governance and public services they also experience extraordinary leaps. Other SOEs should follow Pertamina," continued Trubus.
Previously, Pertamina had achieved quite a proud achievement. The BUMN ranks second ESG globally. Especially in the sub-integrated Oil & Gas industry by Sustainalytics. This position has soared compared to 2021.
At that time Pertamina was ranked number eight out of 54 companies. This achievement, among other things, was marked by the company's success in reducing 29 percent of the carbon emissions produced by Pertamina Group.
Sustainalytics assesses Pertamina's activities in the fields of exploration, production and processing of oil, gas and petrochemicals have a high risk. However, Pertamina's risk management is seen as strong, especially related to 'Land Use & Biodiversity, Human Capital, and Occupational Health & Safety.
