BPS Calls Employee Wages To Increase By 12.22 Percent In August 2022
JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) noted that the average wages for workers, employees, or employees increased by 12.22 percent in August 2022 to IDR 3.07 million compared to August 2021 which amounted to IDR 2.73 million.This figure also increased by 5.61 percent from the period before the COVID-19 pandemic which amounted to IDR 2.9 trillion in August 2019. "Economic strengthening encourages an increase in the average wage," said Head of BPS Margo Yuwono at an online press conference in Jakarta, Monday, November 7.He revealed that based on gender, the average wage for male workers is greater than the wages for female workers. The male labor wage is IDR 3.33 million and the female labor wage is IDR 2.59 million.Meanwhile, based on the sector, workers in the category of financial services and insurance receive the highest wage of IDR 5.18 million, while workers in other service categories receive the lowest wage of IDR 1.84 million.Workers working in nine of the seven main job field categories receive wages higher than the national average labor wage.The labor wage is sequentially in each category, namely financial services and insurance amounting to Rp5.18 million, information and communication Rp5.05 million, mining and excavation of Rp4.81 million, and electricity and gas procurement of Rp4.49 million.Margo added that the average wages for real estate workers amounted to IDR 4.42 million, company services IDR 3.93 million, government administration IDR 3.85 million, health and social activities IDR 3.62 million, as well as transportation and warehousing IDR 3.6 million."Labourers working in eight other main job field categories receive wages below the national average labor wage," he said.The higher the level of secondary education, said Margo, the wages earned for workers also increased. University-educated workers received wages of IDR 4.76 million, while elementary school (SD) education workers below received wages of IDR 1.91 million.This shows that university-educated workers receive wages 2.5 times higher than elementary-educated workers.
