Cipinang Prisonfilled With Drug Cases: There Are 3,679 WBP, Even Though There Are Only 880 Village Power With 120 Rooms

JAKARTA - The condition of the Class 1 Cipinang Penitentiary in East Jakarta currently contains 3,679 correctional inmates (WBP) or prisoners. This condition exceeds the predetermined capacity.

The head of the Class I Cipinang Prison, Tonny Nainggolan, confirmed that there was an overcapacity of prisoners that occurred at the Class 1 Cipinang Prison.

"The current condition exceeds the capacity of almost 300 percent. So the actual capacity is only for 880 people to occupy 120 rooms," Tonny told VOI, Tuesday, November 1.

However, due to the many cases of crime and the perpetrators being detained, currently the Class 1 Cipinang Prison in East Jakarta has exceeded the capacity of prisoners.

"The reality is that now it contains 3,679 inmates. So you could say that it has overloaded almost 300 percent," he said.

Of the 3,679 inmates or inmates, 80 percent of these were dominated by drug cases, one of which was Aditya Egatifyan alias Bokir (25), a prisoner who managed to escape on Saturday, October 29.

"In general, nearly 80 percent of drug cases. Most drug convicts reach almost 80 percent," he said.

Bokir (25), a convict for a 14-year sentence drug dealer who managed to escape from the Class 1 Cipinang Prison, East Jakarta, is registered under the number BI.3.0092/DU.22.

Aditya alias Bogir was recorded as having committed a crime of narcotics abuse which was charged with Article 114 of the Republic of Indonesia Law No. 35 of 2009.

Aditya alias Bokir was sentenced to 14 years in prison by the North Jakarta District Court (PN) on April 19, 2021.

After running away from Cipinang Class 1 Prison since Saturday night, October 29. Aditya alias Bokir was finally arrested again on Monday night, October 31 by a joint team.
