Official! Aston Villa Appoint Unai Emery Replace Steven Gerrard
JAKARTA - Aston Villa officially introduced Unai Emery as their new manager. This Spaniard was brought in from Villarreal.
Emery replaced Steven Gerrard, who was sacked recently for failing to bring Villa to excel at the start of the season.
"Aston Villa is pleased to announce Unai Emery's appointment as the new club manager," the club said in a statement on their official website.
This isn't the first time Emery has played in the Premier League. Previously, he had also been in charge of London's Arsenal club. At the club, he successfully penetrated the Europa League final.
Apart from Arsenal, Emery is also noted to have handled Sevilla and Paris Saint Germain. He won a number of titles with the two clubs.
"Unai will take over from November 1 after the formality of her work permit is complete," the club continued in a statement.
Actually, Emery got an offer from Newcastle United. However, the offer was rejected.
His initial duties as Villa manager were tough. He has to lead his team against Manchester United, both in the Premier League and the League Cup.
