Surabaya Pilkada Debate: MA Talks About Persebaya To Unite Us, Eri Cahyadi Wants To Build A Cultural Approach

SURABAYA - Candidate for Mayor of Surabaya serial number 2 Machfud Arifin (MA) talks about tolerance which is the basis for solid unity in Surabaya. Machfud Arifin also gave an example of Persebaya as a unifier even though Surabaya residents have different backgrounds.

"Surabaya has the number 10 city of tolerance index in Indonesia, differences are the strength to build Surabaya. Difference becomes a strength, becomes a big asset," Machfud Arifin said in the Surabaya Pilkada debate, Saturday, December 5.

The power to unite Surabaya citizens, MA continued, can be done by providing infrastructure such as sports.

"We may not be happy with other clubs, Persebaya has become our unifier, to unite Surabaya with Persebaya to compete is a means of interacting youths and students for one purpose, for example in this capacity Persebaya wins," said MA.

Meanwhile, the deputy walkot candidate Mujiaman said that art facilities also need attention.

"We develop the arts, so group participation will increase and the MA-Mujiaman program of Rp150 million per RT is also a solution. Because each smallest group in the RT can plan development in their respective villages, this participation reduces differences," said Mujiaman.

Meanwhile, candidate pair number 1 Eri Cahyadi-Armudji emphasized that social, cultural and religious diversity are the strengths to build the city of Surabaya. Eri guarantees constitutional rights for all residents of Surabaya without exception.
