Becoming A Suspect In The Corruption Case Of Internet Procurement At The UIN Riau Campus, Former Chancellor Of Akhmad Mujahideen Was Detained By The Prosecutor's Office
RIAU - The Pekanbaru District Attorney's Office (Kejari) has detained the former Chancellor of the State Islamic University (UIN) Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau Prof. Dr. Akhmad Mujahidin.
Akhmad was detained after being questioned by investigators regarding the alleged corruption case in the procurement of internet networks in 2020-2021 at the Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau campus. He wore an orange vest when he left the Pekanbaru Kejari examination room on Friday, October 21.
The Head of Special Crimes at the Pekanbaru Kejari, Agung Irawan, said that the determination of Akhmad as a suspect in this case had been carried out since September 19, 2022.
Previously, Akhmad had run away. Agung said Akhmad went to Lampung without the permission of his investigators and legal advisers before being detained today.
"The person concerned had fled without prior notification," said Agung in Pekanbaru, Riau, quoted from Antara, Friday, October 21.
Agung said the case file for Akhmad Mujahidin as a suspect in the alleged corruption case in internet procurement at the UIN campus, Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau, had been transferred to court. Akhmad will undergo trial in the near future.
"The file for the alleged corruption case that dragged former UIN Chancellor Sultan Syarif Kasim was declared complete or P-21 on Wednesday (19 October)," said Agung.
Akhmad Mujahidin was caught in a case of alleged corruption in internet procurement at the UIN campus, Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau, worth IDR 3.6 billion.
The internet procurement funds came from the State Budget in 2020 amounting to IDR 2.9 billion, and the 2021 State Budget amounting to more than IDR 734 million.
"The method is that the suspect participates in the procurement of the determination of internet service activities at UIN which incidentally that year was in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic," said Agung.
Akhmad Mujahidin is being held at the Sialang Bunguk Detention Center. The Pekanbaru Kejari left the detention concerned for the next 20 days.
"Currently, Akhmad Mujahidin has been appointed as a prosecutor's detainee and we will immediately submit it to the Pekanbaru District Court for trial," he said.
In this alleged corruption case, the suspect Akhmad Mujahidin was charged with Article 12 (e) in conjunction with 12 (i) of the Corruption Eradication Law in conjunction with Article 21 of Law Number 28 of 1999 concerning corruption.
