Mahfud MD Regarding Tragedi Kanjuruhan: Legal Responsibility Is Starting To Be Investigated, It Could Get Hit By The Chairman Of PSSI

Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD said the legal process for the tragedy of the Kanjuruhan Stadium that killed 133 Arema FC or Aremania supporters continued.

Those who take part in the incident must be responsible without exception. Including, PSSI Chairman Mochamad Iriawan or Iwan Bule.

"There are two responsibilities. The responsibility for criminal law has begun to be investigated and it could be subject to the chairman of PSSI later," Mahfud said in an online discussion broadcast on YouTube, Thursday, October 20.

Mahfud said this legal responsibility was already in the recommendation of the Independent Fact Finding Joint Team (TGIPF) of the Flood Tragedy which had been submitted to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). At least, there are several parties who must be responsible, one of which is the Police.

In addition to legal responsibility, there are moral responsibilities that should be shown after the tragedy.

"PSSI, so that all stakeholders resign," he said.

"(Requesting, ed) resignation is not interfering, not violating the rules. If we call for it is not a moral call," continued the former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK).

Mahfud believes that stakeholders or power stakeholders in PSSI resign not against existing rules. "Hopefully it can happen because the resignation was carried out with encouragement from the congress, extraordinary congress, or resignation first, then there will be a munaslub," he said.

Even so, Mahfud said the TGIPF recommendation was not coercive. The decision must be taken by PSSI without being interfered with by other parties.

"Yes or no, it's up to you. That's moral, we don't interfere," he said.
