2 Children In NTT With Symptoms Of Death Distribution, 1 Bringed To Bali For Analysis

NTT - At least two pediatric patients with mysterious symptoms of kidney failure were declared dead in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

"So far, there have been no reports of children dying after taking mediation drugs. The two cases that occur in NTT are the same as cases that often occur today," said the chairman of the Indonesian Pediatrician Association (IDAI) NTT, Dr. Woro Indri Padmosiwi, Sp.A in Kupang, Thursday, October 20.

Indri said the two children with symptoms of mysterious kidney failure died in Rote Ndao Regency in September 2022 and the other in West Sumba.

He added that the mysterious kidney failure symptomatic child who died in West Sumba will be taken to be referred to a hospital in Denpasar, Bali. The step was taken to analyze the disease with a more capable tool.

"Yang di Sumba Barat kemarin terakhir diinformasikan meninggal pada Rabu (19 Oktober) malam sehingga dirujuk ke RS di Denpasar," katanya disitat Antara.

The pediatric patient who died was 1 year and 10 months old, from Waikabubak City, West Sumba.

Based on reports from local hospitals, the one-year-old boy was hospitalized for not urinating or urinating for the past three days.

Therefore, he advised parents at home if there were symptoms such as difficulty urinating, then fever, ARI, runny nose, nausea or vomiting so that they should immediately be examined by a doctor.

"We also can't confirm that the two children who died suffered from acute kidney failure due to taking mild medicine when sick," said Woro Indri.
