Develop Blue And Green Hydrogen, Krakatau Steel In Cooperation With Pertamina NRE And IGNIS Energy

JAKARTA - PT Pertamina Power Indonesia (Pertamina NRE), PT Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk and IGNIS Energy Holding signed a joint study agreement (JSA) on Blue & Green Hydrogen Development and New & Renewable Energy in the Krakatau Steel Industrial Area.

The signing was carried out by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Pertamina NRE Dannif Danusaputro, Purwono Widodo as Director of Business Development representing the President Director of PT Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk Silmy Karim, and Antonio Sieira Muefficients as the Chief Executive Officer of IGNIS Energy Holdings, and witnessed by Deputy Minister of BUMN I Pahala N. Mansury and Director of Strategy, Portfolio, and Business Development Pertamina A. Sayadi Dariah Saputra.

We are very enthusiastic to work with Krakatau Steel to review the development of a green industrial port through the provision of renewable energy. There are several renewable energy potentials that can be utilized, including wind power, PLTS, and clean hydrogen. We also welcome collaboration with IGNIS in its development. We hope that this joint study will continue with more concrete stages," said Danif in his official statement, Wednesday, October 19.

On the same occasion, Silmy Karim explained, the signing of the PSB is the initial stage of exploring the potential production of blue & green hydrogen for industrial areas, the provision of clean energy and other potential collaborations that can involve Krakatau Steel and the Group.

The fiasibility study will be carried out after the formation of a joint PSB team and we will soon prepare a roadmap for the development of EBT in the Krakatau Steel Industrial Estate. With parties who are indeed experts in their fields, I believe the development of EBT in the Krakatau Steel Industrial Estate will be an added value for Krakatau Steel and the Group that will carry the development of Green Steel in the future," Silmy added.

The three entities will jointly prepare a pre-Feasibility study and/or feasibility study to build a blue/green hydrogen plant in the Krakatau Steel industrial area which is integrated with offshore power plants (PLTB) and PLTS. The development of the blue/green hydrogen plant is expected to produce up to 500 MWp of 1.5 GWp of electricity with a potential storage of CO2 of 61 Million Metric Tons.

Meanwhile, Pertamina NRE has a strong commitment to implementing environmental, social, and governance (ESG) aspects in its business activities and fully supports achieving the national target of net zero emissions in 2060.
