PT PLN (Persero) has successfully tested the operation of the 150 kilo Volt Substation (GI) Sudan with a capacity of 30 Mega Volt Ampere (MVA) located in Sudan Village, Cempaga Hulu District, East Kotawaringin Regency, Central Kalimantan Province. With this success, PLN's electricity supply is ready to support the operations of bauxite mining companies in this area.Head of Mining Engineering of PT Parenggean Makmur Sejahtera (PT PMS), Muhammad Indra Siswanto, said that the existence of this electricity supply is expected to support the downstreaming carried out by the company.“We are building a bauxite processing plant and it is planned to be completed in 2024. With electricity support from PLN, we hope that the production of bauxite raw materials into semi-finished or alumina goods can increase our selling value and income. Thank you for PLN's support in developing the domestic mining industry,” he said in an official statement, Saturday, October 15.General Manager of the West Kalimantan Development Main Unit (UIP KLB) Reisal Rimtahi Hasoloan said the construction of GI was based on the signing of the Electricity Sale and Purchase Agreement (SPJBTL) between PLN and PT PMS on June 26, 2020, in Jakarta which had a power requirement of up to 40 million Volt Ampere (VA).Reisal said that GI, which functions to support operations and meet the electricity supply of PT PMS, has a Domestic Component Level (TKDN) of 79.34 percent and requires an investment of IDR 78 billion."“ PLN is ready to support electricity supply for investors in Central and West Kalimantan and make electricity one of the driving forces for the creation of a positive investment climate in both provinces," said Reisal.Reisal said, although currently the bauxite processing plant is still in the construction stage, the electricity that has been generated from GI Sudan can be enjoyed by customers around GI."The operation of GI Sudan is expected to be a form of PLN's support for the domestic industry and PLN's commitment to developing the regional economy. We hope that later this industry will provide benefits to the community, such as opening up employment opportunities for the community around the operational location of PT PMS company,” he explained.
