YouTube Indonesia Presents Fact Check Information Panel

JAKARTA - YouTube video sharing service is committed to fighting the spread of misinformation and hoax content on its platform. One of them is by embedding an information panel for fact-checking.

So far, the information panel and fact-check services are available in Brazil, India, Germany, Britain and the United States (US). Now these features and services are available for YouTube Indonesian users.

"This feature is useful for fighting misinformation and disinformation on YouTube services. Fact-checking information panels are expected to provide context that accompanies the content on the platform, to help users make smarter judgments on the content they see," said Google, in its official statement, Wednesday. , December 2.

YouTube Indonesia notes that more and more people are coming to its platform to get news and information content. In fact, the amount of content increased by more than 75 percent during the first three months of 2020 worldwide.

"YouTube understands the importance of providing trusted information from authoritative news sources to the Indonesian public. That is why over the past few years, we have continued to work hard to improve the experience of viewers in getting actual news and from authoritative sources," said YouTube Indonesia.

To provide valid information and fact checking, YouTube Indonesia has collaborated with the CekFakta.com page. In addition, it also collaborates with more than 24 media organizations that have signed the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN).

Later, YouTube's fact-checking information panel will provide information from third parties, based on search results for the most relevant articles by utilizing the ClaimReview bookmark system. For example, if someone is looking for "did an earthquake just happened in Jakarta" or a more specific question.

"All fact-check articles must also comply with YouTube's Community Guidelines and viewers can send feedback to the YouTube team," concluded Google.
