Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo Appreciates Makassar's Inflation Control
JAKARTA - Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo praised Makassar City's inflation control program by utilizing the tourist alley program (longwis) through planting chili trees by residents.
"So actually inflation control can be done in a simple way, and the guardian is doing it well and is supported by the local community," he said in Makassar, quoted from Antara, Monday 10 October.
Ganjar Pranowo said that Indonesia is currently preparing to face the threat of a recession due to the very high inflation rate.
However, with the tourism alley program by the Mayor of Makassar, Ramdhan Pomanto, Makassar has become one of the regions in Indonesia most prepared to face the threat of a recession.
Ganjar said the high price of chili was one of the contributors to the increase in inflation as well as shallots. So according to him, what Danny Pomanto has done is very worthy of emulation.
Where in the tourist aisle, people who are members of the Women Farmers Group (KWT) plant food commodities such as chili, tomatoes, pakcoy, kale, lettuce, mustard greens, onions, and rice. There is also the cultivation of freshwater crayfish, tilapia, and catfish.
"I see KWT activities, planting, optimizing land, to trading, I think this is a good empowerment and needs to be imitated," he said.
Meanwhile, the Mayor of Makassar, Ramdhan Pomanto, accompanied the Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo, around the tourist alley and witnessed the food plants that were managed directly by the local community. The two of them even had the opportunity to harvest chilies and tilapia.
In front of Ganjar, Danny Pomanto explained that the tourist aisle is a flagship program of the Makassar City Government by targeting 1,095 tourist aisles this year and 5,000 until 2026.
"Our vision and mission are 5,000 tourist alleys that become economic generators for small communities," he said.

"So this tourist aisle is a series of hallways, in my first period there was a garden hallway and now we are developing it into a tourist aisle. We even added high-competitive commodities, such as freshwater crayfish," Danny added.
With the positive response from the Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo, Danny Pomanto hopes that the tourist alley program will become an example nationally.
"I think this can be an example for Indonesia and this is a national movement. In Bali yesterday at the meeting, we were told to plant chilies, plant onions, and we have been doing that since 2015. We want to convey to the national through Pak Ganjar that Makassar has done that," he explained.
Also present on the occasion were Assistant I Andi Muh Yasir, Head of the Fisheries and Agriculture Service Evy Aprialty, Head of the Cooperatives Service Sri Sulsilawati, Head of the Tourism Office Muhammad Roem, and sub-district heads throughout the city of Makassar.
