Belitung Regency Government Asks For HAS Hanandjoeddin Belitung Airport To Be Reopened

JAKARTA - The Belitung Regency Government has proposed to the central government that the HAS Hanandjoeddin International Airport be opened immediately to improve the economy.

"We propose that HAS Hanandjoeddin Belitung International Airport be opened immediately after being closed by the government to prevent the spread of COVID-19," said Belitung Regent Sahani Saleh in Tanjung Pandan, Saturday, October 8.

He admitted that international flight routes to Belitung from a number of neighboring countries such as Malaysia, China, and Singapore were needed to increase the number of tourist visits from that country.

"Animo wisatawan luar negeri untuk bekunjung ke Belitung cukup tinggi karena banyak objek wisata di Belitung yang menawarkan kecantihan dan nyaman dikunjungi," jelas Bupati Sahani Saleh.

According to him, from the results of communication between tourism actors who have established communication with foreign travel agencies such as Malaysia, China, and Singapore, they really want the Belitung International flight route to be opened.

"I am optimistic that Belitung tourism will develop rapidly and increase the number of foreign tourist visits after the success of hosting the G20," he said.

The beauty of tourist attractions in Belitung, said the regent, is no less good than tourist areas in Indonesia so that it is suitable to be a tourist destination for recreation. The tourism sector in Belitung Regency is quite adequate after the supporting sector such as MSME players re-developed with various types of business products.
