Having Survived Death, Mahmoud Charr Tak Gentar Ladeni Tyson Fury
JAKARTA - A boxer from Syria, Mahmoud Charr, seems ready to accept Tyson Fury's offer to fight in the ring. He was not afraid in the face of intimidation from the King of flow.
Charr is indeed included in Fury's next list of potential opponents. That was after Fury's fight with Anthony Joshua was confirmed to be canceled.
In fact, Fury once made his offer to the Lebanese-born boxer through social media. He is considered one of the forgotten great boxers in the heavyweight division.
"Fury, King Economy, and I, the King of Arabia, have one thing in common: we both never give up," he said as reported by SunSport.
"Fury admitted to having a severe depression, wanting to commit suicide. My life was almost snatched away. I survived a shot in the stomach. I decided to undergo two hip surgerys in one night. After that, I became world champion."
"Fury and I are ambassadors to never give up, believe in yourself and fight for your dreams. A person without a dream has no life," he continued.
The 37-year-old had survived a assassination attempt in 2015 and was unusually returning to the ring nine months later.
Even before Charr was shot four times in the stomach, he had to overcome the difficulties, fleeing the civil war that took his father's life.
In addition, he has also spent time in prison as a teenager before changing his life by making a career in the ring.
"I have a very difficult life, have no money. I'm always on the road, have to fight, fight through my life. Finally, martial arts taught me discipline and made me a better person," said the fighter.
"Yes, I've experienced a lot. I may be the only professional athlete who is still active with two artificial hip joints and has continued to fight at the top level so far."
Charr has won the WBA secondary world title in 2017 and has won his last five games.
Charr's biggest fight to date is the 2012 defeat to Vitali Klitschko, but challenging WBC champion Tyson Fury to beat the score.
