Governor Anies Asks For Infiltration Wells Continued, If The Deputy Governor Of DKI Says It's Up To The Acting Governor
JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria said that the continuation of the infiltration well construction program is the authority of the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta who will take office from October 17, 2022 to 2024.
Although, in the 2023-2026 Regional Development Plan (RPD), DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan asked his successor to continue the construction of infiltration wells.
"So, (infiltration wells) are the authority of the Acting Governor. We don't want to interfere with the Acting Governor. The Acting Governor has the authority, has the authority to make the best decisions according to the Acting Governor regarding how the provincial government will come forward," said Riza at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Thursday, October 6.
The infiltration well is one of Anies' flagship programs during his tenure. However, over time, the DKI Jakarta DPRD realized that infiltration wells were not effective in helping to solve the flood problem in Jakarta.
Thus, the DPRD abolished the application for the infiltration well budget in the 2022 budget year budget. However, Riza views that infiltration wells are still useful for dealing with flooding.
Moreover, throughout this year, the DKI Provincial Government is still building infiltration wells using the budget of each DKI regional work unit (SKPD), although the number is not significant.
"The provincial government feels the need that infiltration wells are felt and the benefits are sufficient to have a positive influence on flood management. However, friends of the DPRD have not yet approved it," he said.
However, Riza continued, it does not mean that infiltration wells will not be continued in the future. The DKI Provincial Government still has the opportunity to apply for a budget for infiltration wells in the discussion of the preparation of the DKI Regional Budget for the 2023 fiscal year.
"Indeed, it will still be discussed later, the discussion will be with the Acting Governor, yes. Regarding the programs for 2023, budget discussions, we have now prepared. However, the details of the programs will be discussed later with the DPRD. I think it will be after the 16th, that means it has become the authority of the Acting Governor," he added.
