The Rio Waida Profile Of Indonesian Surfing Athletes Who Collects Many International Medals

YOGYAKARTA - Rio Waida, an Indonesian surf athlete, won a silver medal in the ISASURF tournament which will be held on September 16-24 2022 at badminton Beach California, United States. Rio managed to achieve achievements and made Indonesia proud in the World Surfing Game event.

There were more than 200 athletes who participated in the ISASURF tournament. The sports competition was held by the International Surfing Association (ISA), and is a series of qualifying competitions for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Athletes from 50 countries competed to get medals, and athletes from Indonesia managed to win silver.

Dylan Amar, the coach of the Indonesian contingent, said he was optimistic that he would be able to achieve the best results in this tournament. Rio Waida also proved it by winning a silver medal and securing tickets at the 2024 Paris Olympics for the Indonesian contingent.

In the competition, Rio managed to get a score of 14.04, a difference of 1.92 from Kanoa Igarashi, a Japanese athlete. The surfer from this tikempur country managed to end the final match as a gold medal winner with the highest score of 15.96.

Actually, there are three Indonesian contingents in the 2022 ISASURF event. All of the contingents from Bali, including Dhany Widianto, new athletes in the ISA competition, I Ketut Agus Aditya Putra, ranked first in the World Surfing League (WSL) Qualifying Series Asia Region 2018, and Rio Waida. Rio has collected a myriad of achievements in international surfing events, one of which is the world of challenge series.

After appearing in the 2022 ISASURF event, Rio and Ketut will fly to Lisbon, Portugal. There they will take part in WSL which is also a qualifying series for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Rio Waida is an Indonesian surfer of Japanese descent. Rio, as he is known, was born on January 25, 2000 in Saitama, Japan. This young surfer is currently 21 years old. His father named Muhammad Zaini and his mother named Kaoru Waida. Japanese blood Rio was passed down from his mother's family.

Initially Rio Waida and his family lived in Japan. When Rio was five years old, he and his family moved to Indonesia. An interesting fact from Rio, it turns out that when he was little he was afraid of the sea. But now this fear has become his best friend.

Rio Waida started his career in the surfing world when he was 14 years old. At the beginning of his career, he appeared in a championship in Japan. Rio also obtained professional certification from the Japanese Professional Surfing Federation.
