PLN Cancels The Elpiji Compor's Conversion Program To Electricity, Economist: Right Decree

JAKARTA - Director of the Center of Economic and Law Studies (Celios) Bhima Yudhistira assessed that the government's move to cancel the 3 kg LPG stove transfer program to an electric stove was very appropriate.

As is known, PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Persero) or PLN decided to cancel the 3 kg LPG stove transfer program to an electric stove. This step was taken to maintain public comfort in economic recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Furthermore, Bhima said, with the electricity stove program, the government seemed to want to fix the downstream problem.

In fact, said Bhima, what had to be repaired was the upstream part or the electricity supply.

"It is appropriate for the government to cancel the electricity stove program. Because this seems like it wants to solve the downstream problem, but the upstream electricity supply is not finished," he told VOI, Wednesday, September 28.

According to Bhima, before deciding to issue an electric stove program, the government should first fix the power plant owned by PLN.

"Ess the problem first at the power plant, which is oversupply, then talk about an electric stove," he said.

For your information, the PLN electricity stove program was canceled after receiving criticism from various circles. One of them from the House of Representatives Commission VII member Mulan Jameela considers the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) stove conversion program to the induction electricity stove to be too hasty.

Mulan believes that the use of electric stoves will not be optimal for the domain of Indonesia's household. Therefore, Mulan asked for the program to be reviewed because it will cause new problems later.

"We, Commission VII, discussed with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. We agreed that this program must be reviewed. The program, it seems that what Mr. Bambang said is true, solving problems with problems," he said in a Working Meeting with the Directorate General of ILMATE of the Ministry of Industry on September 21, 2022.

Not to mention, about pans and pans. Can the electric stove match the existing pan and pan? Pasti, nantinya konsumen akan membeli lagi alat lain yang sesuai dengan stove listrik.

"Earlier, conveying that the price of this induction stove is Rp. 1.5 million, may I ask? It includes a pan and a pan, is it available in various sizes, if mothers must return there. Not to mention, the pans and pots are expensive, sir," Mulan said.

"We are just at home, we have an electric stove, but we still can't escape from the gas stove, because Indonesian cuisine is different. It's not like Caucasian food. I know very well, the Ministry of Industry only carries out its mandate and this is the goal only to reduce LPG imports, how to solve the problem of over supplying electricity, but think about it first," said the wife of musician Ahmad Dhani.
