Netflix More Falls In Game Business, Until Bangun Studio In Finland
JAKARTA - Netflix is re-developing its gaming business by opening an in-house mobile game studio for Netflix Games in Helsinki, Finland.
Each of those studios will later be designed to develop a different game. Netflix revealed why it chose Helsinki to be its newest studio venue.
This is because the region has become home to some of the best game talents in the world, such as Angry Birds creators Rovio and Next Games. In particular, the location will also serve as the first studio Netflix will build from scratch.
"It's still early, and we have more work to do to deliver an incredible gaming experience on Netflix," said Netflix VP of Games Amir Rahimi in a statement quoted from Digital Trends, Tuesday, September 27.
Making games could take years, so I'm proud to see how we continue to build on the foundation of our game studio in our first year, and hope to share what we make in the years to come."
Netflix Games launched last year in a bid to drive the mobile gaming market. Its gaming library has more than two dozen titles, including Pointpy, Before Your Eyes, Stranger Things: 1984, This Is A True Story, Into the Breach, and spin-off League of Legends Hextech Mayhem. The target is by the end of the year there will be 50 titles of the game.
