Barcelona Can Change Rp. 300 Million Per Day From FIFA Following Araujo's Injury
JAKARTA - Barcelona has the opportunity to receive compensation from world football's governing body, FIFA, following Ronald Araujo's injury when appearing to defend the Uruguay national team.
Quoted from Mundo Deportivo, Tuesday, Araujo suffered an injury while playing against Iran in a test match that took place at the NV Arena on Friday, September 23. Araujo was replaced by Austin Rogel when the game had only been running for five minutes.
After undergoing further examination, the diagnosis showed Araujo's thigh muscles were torn. The 24-year-old player was immediately returned to Barcelona for further decisions.
After holding discussions with the club, it was decided that Araujo had to undergo surgery.
The operation will be carried out by doctors, under the supervision of the club's medical team, in Turku, Finland. After the operation is complete, a new medical statement will be made," reads Barcelona's statement.
This situation makes Araujo have to be out for 6-7 weeks for recovery. This means that he will likely miss several important Barcelona matches in October, one of which is the El Clasico duel and is in danger of being absent from defending Uruguay in the 2022 World Cup which began in November.
The same source said Barca should have received compensation from FIFA if Araujo really had to be sidelined by an injury while defending his country in the international break.
Regarding the amount that must be paid, Barcelona has the opportunity to receive compensation up to 20,548 euros per day (Rp 300 million) from FIFA. This compensation will be paid to Barcelona if Araujo is forced to miss October 21.
