OKP Post On Drainage Route To Be Dismantled, Bobby Nasution Confirms Wanting Medan To Be Free From Floods
MEDAN - Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution stated that the demolition of the youth community organization (OKP) posts above the drainage and green lanes aims to make Medan a flood-free Metropolitan City.
"Here, I apologize for the demolition. Maybe we demolished many OKP buildings," said Bobby when attending the inauguration of the North Sumatran 2019-2024 Indonesian Banteng Young DPD (BMI) in Medan, Wednesday, September 21.
The demolition, Bobby Nasution explained, was not intentionally to remove the OKP symbols, but as an effort to realize the vision and mission of making the capital city of North Sumatra Province a flood-free metropolis.
A joint team from the Medan City Government assisted by the TNI/Polri dismantled two OKP posts standing above the drainage on Jalan Paku and Jalan Marelan VII, Medan Marelan, Tuesday (13/9).
Then several OKP posts on Juanda Street and Multatuli Street, Medan Maimun, Wednesday (14/9). There are two OKP posts on KL Yos Sudarso Street and Khaidir Street, Medan Labuhan, Thursday (15/9).

"The demolition was carried out without the slightest sentiment. Because we want to achieve a goal that we all long for to make Medan a developed metropolitan city," said Bobby Nasution.
"We ask for the support of all, especially party leaders and cadres, OKP and seniors, so that this can be realized. God willing, the Medan City Government will move more broadly," explained the Mayor of Medan.
