Cultural Heritage Found At MRT Jakarta Project Phase 2 HI Roundabout-City Station

JAKARTA - PT Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Jakarta discovered several cultural heritages during the construction of the MRT phase 2 connecting the HI Roundabout Station to Kota Station.

"We did a 'check' and found a lot of cultural heritage," said PT MRT Jakarta Construction Director Silvia Halim as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, September 20.

His party must ensure the preservation of cultural heritage before starting to build tunnels and MRT stations in phase 2 that connects the HI Roundabout Station to the City Station.

Cultural heritage discovered during PT MRT Jakarta in the form of the ancient Glodok bridge and the Batavia Terracotta waterway, in December 2021 and July 2022.

PT MRT Jakarta emphasized that it would not damage the cultural heritage, but would preserve it by displaying it in the museum, reusing it in the station building and making it part of the building's architecture.

PT MRT Jakarta also had to divert the rail line so as not to damage the cultural heritage in the form of the remnants of the old Batavia wall, better known as Pintu Besar.

PT Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Jakarta discovered several cultural heritages during the construction of the MRT phase 2 which connects the HI Roundabout Station to the City Station.

MRT began working on phase 2 of the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout-City Station corridor on February 14, 2022, and so far it has reached 15 percent.

Currently, PT MRT Jakarta only serves one corridor, namely from Lebak Bulus to the HI Roundabout with a floating route and through a tunnel. While corridor 2 from Bundaran HI to Jakarta Kota uses the tunnel route.
