Receiving An International Award, President Jokowi: I Dedicated For All Indonesian People
JAKARTA - The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has dedicated the international award he has received to all Indonesian people.
This was conveyed by President Joko Widodo in a video message speech at the awarding ceremony for the prestigious Global Citizen Award, organized by the United States think tank agency, the Atlantic Council, Monday, September 19.
"I dedicate this award to all Indonesian people," said President Jokowi in a video message, launching a written statement from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tuesday, September 20.
The remarks were broadcast in the presence of around 600 attendees, consisting of business figures and the US and international civil society as well as representatives of the Government of friendly countries.
President Joko Widodo received approval for his leadership as the G20 Presidency, in an effort to bridge the effects of war in Ukraine and broad support for advancing the fulfillment of human rights, democracy and better global health architecture.
"Indonesia's presidency at the G20 occurs at a time when the world is faced with multidimensional challenges. And because it requires a leader who has extraordinary abilities, a leader who wants trust from all parties. President Jokowi is not only the leader of the Indonesian people, but a leader who has a global vision, promotes world peace and prosperity," said Klaus Schwab, Executive chairman of WEF.
Meanwhile, the award was received by Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, who was present on behalf of President Jokowi.
"President Joko Widodo is a manifestation of the spirit that Indonesia wants to project to the world, namely the paradigm of collaboration, bridge building (bridge-building) and being part of the solution," said the Indonesian Foreign Minister.
The awarding event for the Global Citizen Award itself is an annual event, organized by the Atlantic Council on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, United States.
Awards are awarded to figures seen as making a real contribution to the world. The world figures who have received the award include late Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, former South Korean President Moon Jae-in and Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte.
In addition to the President of the Republic of Indonesia, the 2022 Global Citizen Award was also awarded to Finnish President Sauli Niinistö, Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson, Google CEO and Alphabet Sundar Pichai, as well as Special Envoy for Peace and Reconciliation Forest Whittaker.
