Former Boxer Amir Khan Ever Becomes A Victim Of Investment Bodong, Gets Mentally And Rises Again Thanks To My Wife
JAKARTA Former British boxer Amir Khan turned out to have been a victim of a fraudulent five million pounds investment or equivalent to Rp. 86 billion.
The former 35-year-old athlete was one of the largest British sports stars in the 1990s and early 2010s. During that period, he recorded himself as a lightweight welterweight champion.
This success made him the center of attention. The various sponsors and fights he had successfully raised large amounts of money.
However, the Bolton-born man made a confession regarding the carelessness he made in 2016. He did that when he was injured after his heyday.
"Mental health is a huge thing and it's a good idea to start talking about it, because mental health issues have happened to the best of us, like Tyson Fury and other fighters," he said, quoted by the Daily Star.
"I'm facing a very serious [mental health] problem. Back in 2016, I slumped with my wife. I haven't boxed. Two years outside the ring have gained weight, and I'm not happy with myself," he continued.
Khan then underwent hand surgery and I returned to training. However, he sometimes feels still sick so he returns to his next operation.
In total he underwent three operations to recover from injury. He even thought that he would never fight again.
"It made me slump, knowing that I was at the peak of my career, but I couldn't fight. At that time, I was following some fraudulent investments that didn't pay me back. I was thinking, how am I going to live my life?" he said.
Luckily his wife Faryal Makh reshuffled their finances. He became a key figure to preventing mistakes in financial management similar in business after setting up bar shisha, restaurant, and coffee shop.
"I lost 5 million pounds through different investments, which at the same time was my hand operation, so you can imagine my problem. I lost a lot of money and I couldn't box because of my hands," he said.
Khan is currently estimated to have a net worth of around £34 million. The five million pounds of that amount came from losing to his fierce rival Kell Brook earlier this year.
