Commission I Asks Governments To Expand High-Scapable IT Human Resources To Prevent The 'Bjorka' From Appearing' Others

JAKARTA - Commission I of the DPR encourages the Government to improve the State's digital security system. This follows the occurrence of data leaks and cyber attacks on ministries/agencies carried out by hackers.

"I encourage ministries and related institutions to synergize to investigate this data leak, and then maintain it with a more sophisticated digital security system," said Member of Commission I DPR Nurul Arifin, Tuesday, September 13.

As is known, there was data hacking belonging to a number of ministries/agencies. Then, there was also a leak of SIM Card registration data, 105 million voter data, to a letter to the president which was said to include a collection of documents from the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) which were labeled confidential.

Not only that, but the personal information data of a number of figures was also leaked by hackers. Nurul reminded that the number of cases of data leaks and cyber attacks against the state must receive serious attention.

"We hope that more sophisticated equipment systems can ward off hackers," he said.

Nurul also encourages the Government to increase human resources (HR) in the field of technology or IT. Of course, technology experts who have the ability to ward off hackers and other cyber crimes.

At the very least, there is an open recruitment of trained human resources or skillful (lahir) in every ministry and institution. Is it for programmers, IT Support, Security Engineers, and so on," Nurul urged.

He added that good human resources are the support capacity of the Government in improving digital security in ministries and state institutions. Nurul believes that the current human resources are quite good, but there is nothing wrong with improving.

And Indonesia does not lack great children in the IT field. We will see for ourselves how many of our young people have achieved achievements in various international technology events," said the legislator from the West Java I electoral district.

Nurul assessed that the Government can strengthen the digital security system by recruiting trained human resources from IT activists who have high ideals and abilities.

"So that their skills can be directed as a contribution to the State," said Nurul.

Regarding the alleged data leak, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) formed an emergency team consisting of the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kemenkominfo) and the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN).

Then, there is the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) and the National Police who will join the team to maintain data governance in Indonesia.

"In particular, we appreciate the President for his serious response in this case," said Nurul.

Commission I of the DPR, which is one of its duties related to Communication and Information affairs, hopes that the Government will immediately address various issues of data leakage and cyber attacks. Nurul reminded that cyber attacks are now getting more massive.

"Attacks on network security in Indonesia, not only ministries and state institutions but also attacks on higher business entities," he explained.

"Therefore, there needs to be strategic efforts in dealing with various security threats in the digital realm, especially related to personal data," added Nurul.

Nurul also stated that the DPR continues to be committed to creating a healthy digital realm for the community. Moreover, Indonesia has extraordinary big data which is a strategic asset in the digital business.

"Therefore, the DPR is trying to accelerate the existence of a legal umbrella that can protect information and personal data through the Personal Data Protection Bill (RUU PDP)," he explained.

Commission I of the DPR together with representatives of the Government have agreed to bring the PDP Bill to level II talks at the DPR Plenary Meeting and then ratified as law. The PDP Bill is already very urgent and important to provide equal rights in data protection at the international level.

The PDP Bill will be a form of the presence of the State to protect the rights of Indonesian citizens in the digital world, even in the global sphere. Especially related to public personal data," concluded Nurul.
