Pekanbaru Airport Exploring International Flights To Malaysia Routes, Reported By The Water Salute Process
JAKARTA - Sultan Syarif Kasim II (SSK II) Pekanbaru Airport again serves regular international flights. Marked by the re-operation of the Batik Air Malaysia international route Melaka (Malaysia)-Pekanbaru-Melaka route.
Executive General Manager of SSK II Airport Pekanbaru M Hendra Irawan in Pekanbaru, explained that the international flight was the first to be served after this airport was designated as one of the international entry points based on the Circular of the COVID-19 Task Force No. 25 of 2022 and Circular Letter of the Ministry of Transportation Number SE 88 of 2022 concerning Guidelines for the Implementation of Overseas Travel by Air Transportation during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
"The International Batik Air flight with flight number 310 landed at SSK II Pekanbaru Airport from Melaka on Monday at 12.20 WIB carrying 46 passengers and was greeted by the water salute procession from the fire engine at Pekanbaru SSK II Airport," explained M Hendra Irawan, Monday, September 12, quoted from Antara.
The process of welcoming passengers was symbolically carried out with flower-raising activities, by the Head of the Tourism Marketing Division of Riau Province Savitri Handayani and EGM of Pekanbaru SSK II Airport to foreign tourists represented by the Minister of Pelanggan, Heritage, and Culture of the Malacca Country who happened to be participating in the flight.
PT Angkasa Pura II welcomes the re-operation of regular International routes from Batik Air which connects Pekanbaru with Melaka.
"We hope that other international flight routes can operate again considering that since it was designated as an international entry point, Pekanbaru's SSK II Airport has only served charter flights," said Irawan.
Irawan thanked Airnav Indonesia, airlines, Immigration Offices, Customs and Excise, Pekanbaru Class II Port Health Office, Agricultural Quarantine, Fish Quarantine, Riau Provincial Health Office and Pekanbaru City Health Office so that standards for security, safety and service and implementation of health protocols during the pandemic.
The Riau Province Tourism Office itself hopes that with the reopening of international flight routes, it will provide opportunities for foreign tourists visiting Riau via air transportation.
"Providing the spirit for the advancement of Riau tourism, which will have an impact on improving the people's economy," Savitri said as quoted by Antara.
