The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Reminds Whistleblowers Of Allegations Of Corruption Not Only Screenshots

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said screenshots or screenshots could not simply be evidence when the public reported allegations of corruption. At least, there must be a description of the facts on the reported incident.

"I said it's not enough (if it's just a screenshot, ed)," said Tomi Murtomo, Director of Public Complaints and Reports Service (PLPM) as quoted from the Indonesian KPK YouTube, Wednesday, August 31.

In reporting, the public must complete a number of things according to Government Regulation (PP) Number 43/2018. These include the identity of the reporter to the description of the facts.

"What kind of description. 5 W (what, where, when, why, who) + 1 H (how). Who, where, when, how much should be conveyed," said Tomi.

Even so, Tomi agrees that people are often difficult if they have to find a description of this fact. So, those who report should know, see, and hear directly about corruption allegations.

"Because PP 43 is indeed if I'm not mistaken, it is made to limit the complainant, people who play an active role also don't report carelessly. Therefore, it is required that they must attach a description of the facts of alleged corruption," he said.

Later, the KPK will verify the reports received. After that, if the reported cases are in accordance with the main tasks and functions of the anti-corruption commission, the report will be reviewed.

"Because it needs to be submitted to the public, many reports have been submitted to the KPK, maybe even because people are desperate to report where they want to go, the dispute over Gono-gini assets has only been reported to us," he said.

"Well, this (needs, ed) to be verified. When it's not a criminal act of corruption, we can't follow up on complaints," continued Tomi.

Previously, the KPK revealed that there had been an increase in the number of public reports that entered its institution. In the first semester of 2022, there were 2,173 reports received.

"During the first semester of 2022, the number of reports received by the Directorate of PLPM KPK of 2,173 reports increased slightly compared to the number of reports in the same period in 2021 as many as 2,045 reports," said KPK Deputy for Information and Data Mochammad Hadiyana at a press conference at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Friday, August 19.

Furthermore, as many as 2,069 reports have been verified and 104 of them were directly archived. Hadiyana said this filing was carried out because the substance of the report was not related to allegations of corruption that could be handled by the KPK.

Then, there were also 1,235 reports that had been verified but were not forwarded. The reason is that the report does not have supporting evidence such as the requirements in PP 43 of 2018 concerning the Participation of the Community.
