The government gave social cushioning funds to 20.65 million people. This policy is carried out at the same time to divert fuel oil subsidies (BBM) so that they are right on target, reported by Setkab.go.id. This policy is expected to help the community's economy. In addition, the public is also encouraged to maintain consumptive power in the midst of a global price spike.
Of the total budget of IDR 24.17 trillion, social cushion funds are divided into three programs. What are three social cushion programs?
Since recently, the issue of increasing fuel prices has been widely discussed by the public. The government is said to be increasing the price of Subsidy fuel according to the global price spike and the country's economy. However, the final policy is still being discussed by the government.
The subsidized fuel program provided by the government has drawn a lot of criticism from various parties. This program is still not considered right on target, so it is considered a waste of state money. Some parties suggest that the government transfer the subsidy in the form of other assistance whose benefits can be felt by the community.
Social cushion funds are a program from the government to divert fuel subsidies so that they are right on target. Finance Minister Sri Mulyani, during a meeting at the Presidential Office on Monday (29/8), said that the government had prepared a social cushion budget of Rp24.17 trillion.
"The total social cushion that was set by the President to be executed starting this week is IDR 24.17 trillion. This is expected to reduce the pressure on the community and even reduce poverty," reported from the Setkab website.
Sri Mulyani conveyed that the government distributed social cushion funds into three programs or three types of assistance. Here are the three social cushion programs:
The first program is direct cash assistance (BLT). This program received a budget allocation of Rp12.4 trillion. BLT will be given to 10.65 million beneficiary families (KPM). The distribution of BLT is carried out by the Ministry of Social Affairs using PT. Pos Indonesia.
"So 20.65 million groups or beneficiary families will get a budget of Rp. 12.4 trillion, which will be paid by the Minister of Social Affairs Rp. 150 thousand for four times. So in this case, the Minister of Social Affairs will pay it twice, namely the first Rp. 300 thousand and the second Rp. 300 thousand," said the Minister of Finance.
The second program is wage subsidy assistance (BSU). The budget allocated for this program is IDR 9.6 trillion. BSU will be distributed to 16 million targeted workers through the Ministry of Manpower. Each worker will receive a total of IDR 600 thousand.
"Mr. President also instructed us to help 16 million workers who have a maximum salary of Rp. 3.5 million per month with assistance of Rp. 600 thousand, with a total budget of Rp. 9.6 trillion," said the Minister of Finance.
The third program is assistance from the Regional Government. The local government is asked to prepare two percent of the General Transfer Fund (DTU), namely DAU (General Allocation Fund) and DBH (Result Sharing Fund).
The budget is distributed for transportation sector subsidies. This subsidy is given to public transportation to fishermen. In addition, this subsidy is also used for additional social protection.
"The Ministry of Home Affairs will issue a regulation, we at the Ministry of Finance also set a Minister of Finance Regulation in which two percent of the General Transfer Funds, namely DAU and DBH, were given to the people in the form of transportation subsidies for public transportation to motorcycle taxis and fishermen, as well as for additional social protection," explained the Minister of Finance.
