Increase The Air Irrigation Supply In NTB, Tiu S Dam To Target The End Of 2023 Village

JAKARTA - The Directorate General of Water Resources of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) has built a number of dams in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

This is in order to support sustainable agricultural production, especially in NTB as one of the national food barns.

One of the dams built is the Tiu Suntu Dam, which is located in West Sumbawa Regency, NTB.

The key to development in NTB is the availability of water. With the continuous water supply from dams, farmers who previously only planted once a year, could grow to 2-3 planting times," said PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono as quoted by Antara, Friday, August 26.

The Tiu S untuk Dam is one of the 6 National Strategic Project (PSN) dams built in NTB.

Besides the Tiu Suntu Dam, the other five dams are Tanju Dam, Mila, Meninting, Bintang Bano, and Beringin Sila.

With a capacity of 55.90 million cubic meters and an inundation area of 312.09 Ha, the Tiu Sgar Dam will later be able to supply 68 liters/second of raw water and supply water for irrigation areas covering an area of 1,900 Ha (Existing 1,370 Ha and Extensification 530 Ha) covering the Taliwang District and Brang Ene Districts.

Both sub-districts are considered to have a fairly large agricultural land/areal, but most of the land has experienced a decline in performance due to lack of water supply.

In addition, dams have the potential for Micro-hydro Power Plants (PLTM) of 0.81 MW, reduced flooding by 390 m3/second, especially in Taliwang District, which is a flood-prone area, as well as potential as a place for conservation, tourism, and land fisheries.

The construction of the Tiu S Dam to be carried out since February 2020 costs Rp. 1,277 billion and is targeted to be completed in December 2023.

The construction was carried out in two packages where Package I was carried out by PT Nindya Karya and PT Bahagia Bangun Nusa (KSO), while Package II by PT PP-Marfri (KSO).
