JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan stated that the Kota Tua area after the revitalization is a city that describes the future of Jakarta.
This was conveyed by Anies when opening the Kota Tua Batavia Festival. Anies said that the buildings in Kota Tua had been built around 1600. However, according to him, now the face of the future lies in the area.
"The 400-year journey of this city is marked by the buildings built since the 1960s that are in this place. On the other hand, this Old Town has been rebuilt in a few months so that it represents the future face of the city," said Anies in the Kota area. Tua, West Jakarta, Friday, August 26.
Currently, the revitalization of the Kota Tua area has been running at 80 percent. In the process, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is structuring pedestrian paths, moving Transjakarta shelters, and controlling street vendors (PKL).
In addition, Kota Tua is also used as a low emission zone (LEZ). Where, there is a prohibition for private motorized vehicles to cross the area.
"This is where LEZ is implemented, a low emission zone area. So, in this Old City, we find the 2022 meeting back, looking at 400 trips, and going forward we see a new city that represents the future Jakarta," said Anies.
On that occasion, Anies stated that Kota Tua places the pedestrian area as the main area. Thus, what has emerged is an increase in the use of public transportation modes to mobilize.
"We want a city that creates equality, and in this region using 100 percent later on foot," said the former Minister of Education and Culture.
"God willing, whoever will come to this place, whether it's tourists from the European continent, tourists from the Asian continent coming here, he will mix with the residents of Jakarta, the residents of Indonesia, with a feeling of equality. future," he added.
