LHK Service Officers Guard Markets In Kupang To Monitor Waste Management
JAKARTA - The Government of Kupang City, East Nusa Tenggara has improved the handling of waste in traditional markets.
The acting mayor of Kupang, George Melkianus Hadjoh, explained that the city government would place officials from the Environment and Hygiene Service (DLHK) in traditional markets to monitor waste management.
"We will immediately place DLHK officers in all traditional markets in Kupang City. The placement of these officers is to make it easier for the government to supervise cleaning activities in the market environment," explained George Melkianus Hadjo as quoted from Antara, Friday, August 26.
"The placement of DLHK officers is also to monitor people who dispose of waste according to the waste disposal hours that have been determined by the government, so that the traditional market areas in Kupang City become cleaner, more comfortable, and healthier," he added.
In addition, the city government will provide waste transport vehicles at traditional markets so that the waste can be immediately transported to the final waste processing site.
George said the city government is trying to make Kupang a clean and healthy city.
"In principle, this city must be clean of garbage, especially plastic waste. People must be able to maintain environmental cleanliness not only to make our community healthy but also of course the beauty of the city will be maintained. in Kupang City," he said.
The former Head of the General Bureau of the Regional Secretariat of East Nusa Tenggara Province appealed to traders and buyers to keep the market clean by reducing waste generation and putting garbage in its place.
