Anies's Office Requires Transportation Department Employees To 'Cage' Cars Every Friday, Must Cycle To The Office
JAKARTA - All employees of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency are now required to use bicycles to work every Friday. Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria said this was an effort by the DKI Provincial Government to socialize the bicycle lanes that had been built so far.
"That's our effort to ensure that we can use bicycle lanes, it's our part of the effort to socialize the bicycle lanes that we have created," Riza told reporters, Friday, August 26.
Until 2021, the DKI Provincial Government has built 97.77 kilometers of bicycle lanes. This year, it is targeted that bicycle lanes will also be built in 20 locations with a length of 195.6 kilometers.
The construction of bicycle lanes with funds from the APBD is carried out by the DKI Provincial Government to increase public interest in using emission-free transportation means in carrying out daily mobilization.
"Every year we always budget for the development, extension, and expansion of bicycle lanes," said Riza.
Therefore, Riza said that cycling socialization efforts must be carried out starting from the ranks of DKI Provincial Government employees. In fact, this activity is planned to be extended to regional work units (SKPD) other than the Department of Transportation.
"God willing, (mandatory cycling) will be applied to other agencies. We will also try to make all efforts to enliven and facilitate bicycle lanes," he said.
As is known, the Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, issued Instruction Number e-3001 of 2022.
In this instruction, all employees of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Transportation Service, both state civil servants (ASN) and other individual service providers (PJLP) are required to use bicycles as the main mode or intermediate mode to work every Friday.
In addition, Syafrin also asked his subordinates to show off their cycling to work every Friday to invite the public to participate in using bicycles in their activities.
"The use of bicycles is carried out every Friday and all employees of the DKI Jakarta DKI Provincial Transportation Service are also instructed to upload cycling activities on their respective social media," said Syafrin.
