The Big Ship, Glory Marry, Which Ran Aground In Talaud, North Sulawesi, Has Not Been Successfully Pulled Into The Sea

SANGIHE - The passenger ship Glory Mary, which ran aground on Moronge, Salibabu Island, Talaud Islands Regency, North Sulawesi, has not been successfully pulled into the sea.

"Until now, KM Glory Mary has not been successfully pulled into the sea even though it has been towed by ship," said Head of the Talaud Seaport office, Jerusalem Melope, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 24.

According to him, efforts to pull the ship from the reef have been carried out since Tuesday (23/8) but have not succeeded.

"KM Glory Marry has been towed twice by TB ship. Mahameru on Tuesday (23/8) from 17.00 to 18.00 and Wednesday (24/8) from 03.00 to 04.00 WITA, but has not succeeded, " he said.

He said the problem was that the ship could not be towed, he said, because most of the hull was in a dry place on the reef.

"The recall of the ship will be carried out on Friday (26/8) waiting for high tides," he said.

The head of the Talaud Islands Regency BPBD, Samuel Salaa, explained that in the KM Glory Mary accident, there were no casualties because the ship ran aground on a reef on the edge of the island, not in the middle of the sea.

"All passengers immediately descended to the ground and continued their journey by land and the existing marine fleet in the Moronge District," he said.

KM Glory Marry has been serving the Manado-Talaud shipping route back and forth from Manado to the ports of Lirung, Melonguane, and Beo, Talaud Islands Regency, carrying passengers and goods for the community's basic needs, he added.
