JAKARTA - The Garut District Attorney (Kejari) has arrested a convict in a corruption case in the procurement of computers at the Garut Regency Education Office, West Java, who has been on the run since the 2012 district court decision.
"The person in question is on our wanted list, until now we can finally execute him," said Head of the Garut Kejari Neva Sari Susanti during a press conference on the arrest of a fugitive in a corruption case, in Garut, Monday, August 22, as reported by Antara.
He said the convict Tatang was a partner in a computer procurement project at the Garut Regency Education Office with a state loss of IDR 527 million from the 2007 budget.
Furthermore, in 2010, said Neva, the person concerned underwent a trial process and was acquitted at the court of first instance, then the Garut District Attorney's Office took the cassation step.
"We tried the case in 2010, but it was declared acquitted in the first instance court. Then we took a cassation case, the verdict was out in 2012," he said.
He conveyed that since the decision, the ranks of the Garut District Attorney's Office conducted a search for the person concerned, which was then designated as a wanted list.
The Kejari Garut, he said, finally got information about the whereabouts of the convict living in Astana Anyar, Bandung City, then carried out surveillance and arrested him.
"Arrested in Astana Anyar, Bandung, there it turned out that the convict Tatang served as the head of the RW," he also said.
He conveyed that the criminal case for procuring a computer had been tried, and the other two convicts were serving their sentences, while Tatang had not yet served his sentence for hiding.
"Two other people have served criminal sentences, only Tatang has not yet been convicted," he said.
At the press conference. The convict was presented wearing a pink vest, then taken to serve his sentence at the Garut Detention Center.
