When You Want To Step On The Brakes, Even The Gas Pedal, The Black Sedan Swoops Down Into Sentiong River, Central Jakarta

JAKARTA – A black sedan with the number B 1866 PEP fell into the Sentiong River, Tanah Tinggi Village, Johar Baru, Central Jakarta. The incident occurred on Sunday evening, August 21. According to information, the driver stepped on the wrong pedal and then drove and fell into a river that does not have a guardrail.

Johar Baru Police Chief, Police Commissioner (Kompol) Ari Susanto confirmed the incident. He said the car fell into the river because the driver was about to apply the brakes but the carpet covered the pedals so the car immediately plunged into the river.

"The car wanted to park but instead the driver wanted to apply the brakes instead the car immediately sped into the river, because the pedals were covered in carpet," said Kompol Ari when confirmed by VOI, Monday, August 22.

Meanwhile, Head of Central Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept., Asril Rizal, said the car was successfully transported using a crane.

The car was successfully evacuated on Sunday night at around 19.50 WIB by 9 officers.

"There was an obstacle in the form of a short cable at the location which made it difficult for officers. However, the car was successfully lifted slowly," he said.

The owner of the vehicle is known to be Driyan Hartanto, a resident of Jalan Batara Guru 1 A RT12/08, Tanah Tinggi, Johar Baru District. Losses reached Rp. 25 million.
